CLUB STRUCTURE
The
club operates a three tier structure working from Bronze to Gold Squad. A
swimmer's progress will be monitored by the coaching team and s/he will be moved
up to the next squad at the appropriate time.
Stirling Swimming is a competitive swimming club and
swimmers are expected to participate in appropriate
galas through out
the year, if in doubt of the suitability of a gala please speak to the coach.

Bronze
Squad

Entry
to Bronze Squad will be on the basis of a trial. Swimmers will normally be aged
up to10 or 11 and will be split into two groups according to ability: Bronze Squad A
will have three one-hour session each week and Bronze Squad B will have two
one-hour sessions each week. The objectives at this level are to develop basic
swimming skills including starts and turns and stroke awareness in breaststroke,
backstroke, freestyle and butterfly. Swimmers in this squad will compete in club
time trials and championship, Graded Meets and Club v

Silver
Squad

Entry
to Silver Squad will be decided by the coaching team. Swimmers will normally be
aged up to12 or 13 and will be split into two groups according to ability. Silver
Squad A will have four one-hour sessions and two 30 minute land training
sessions each week. Silver Squad B will have three one-hour sessions and one 30
minute land training session each week. The objectives at this level are to
further develop training skills, stroke awareness, to provide emphasis on
starts, turns and drills, to build up strokes to 200m and to introduce basic
land training. Swimmers in this squad will take part in the same competitions as
Bronze Squad and also Open Age Meets. For more about the Silver squads

Gold
Squad

Entry
to Gold Squad will be decided by the coaching team. Swimmers will normally be
aged up to 15 and 16 and will be split by ability into training lanes. Training will
comprise five 90 minute sessions and four land sessions each week. The
objectives at this level are to further develop training skills, to develop
strokes to 400m, build stroke technique, drills, starts and turns and to improve
strength and fitness in water and on land. Swimmers in this Squad will take part
in the same competitions as Bronze and Silver Squads and also National Age Group
